This is the first edition of CHPI’s annual analysis of spending on physician services in Canada. The current edition examines total direct spending on physicians in Canada by province, adjusted for population, GDP, the number of active physicians and the volume of services rendered. The cost of physicians in Ontario was highlighted for discussion given the relevancy to recent fee negotiations between the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) and the provincial government.
