Privacy Policy

This site is intended for Canadian residents only and is subject to all applicable Canadian laws. CANADIAN HEALTH POLICY INSTITUTE INC. and its agents (“CHPI”) are committed to protecting your privacy. This Statement of Privacy applies to the CANADIAN HEALTH POLICY (“CHP”) Web site (the “Site”) and governs data collection and usage. By using the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

CHPI collects personal data only when provided by you through registration, completion of forms or e-mails, as part of an order for products or services, inquiries or requests about materials being ordered and similar situations in which you have chosen to provide the information to us. CHPI collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. CHPI also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your Postal code. There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by CHPI. This data may include the name of your internet service provider, the web site that you used to link to our site, the web sites that you visit from our site and your IP-Address. This data could possibly lead to your identification, but we do not use it to do so. We do use the data from time to time for statistical purposes, but maintain the anonymity of each individual user so that the person cannot be identified. In cases when personal data is provided to others to provide you products or services you have requested, or for other purposes you have authorized, we rely on technical and organizational means to assure that applicable data security regulations are followed. The database and its contents remain at CHPI and stay with data processors or servers acting on our behalf and responsible to us. Your personal data will not be passed on by us or by our agents for use by third parties in any form whatsoever, unless we have obtained your consent or are legally required to do so. CHPI will retain control of and responsibility for the use of any personal data you disclose to us. Some of this data may be stored or processed at computers located in other jurisdictions, such as the United Kingdom, whose data protection laws may differ from the jurisdiction in which you live. Subject to applicable laws in such other jurisdictions, CHPI will use its best efforts to ensure that appropriate protections are in place to require the data processor in that country to maintain protections on the data that are equivalent to those that apply in the country in which you live. CHPI encourages you to review the privacy statements of Web sites you choose to link to from the Site so that you can understand how those Web sites collect, use and share your information. CHPI is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on Web sites outside of the Site.

USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The data we collect will be used for the purpose of supplying you with the requested products or services or for other purposes for which you have given your consent, except where otherwise provided by law.  CHPI, with your consent, may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from CHPI and its affiliates or may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered. CHPI does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. In addition, with your consent, CHPI may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to CHPI, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

DATA RETENTION

We only retain personal data for as long as is necessary for us to render a service you have requested or to which you have given your consent, except where otherwise provided by law (e.g. in connection with pending litigation).

USE OF COOKIES

The Site uses “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize the Site’s pages, or register with the Site or services, a cookie helps CHPI to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same Site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the features that you customized. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Site.

SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

CHPI secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. CHPI secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other Web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

CHPI will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. CHPI encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how CHPI is protecting your information.
